Dead Porn Stars

I am not sure how I found it, I clicked on one thing, and that led to another, which brought up another web page, and then I saw the link to a YouTube video.  The video was Dead Porn Stars Memorial.  I watched it.  It is very sad.  Tragic.  Terrible.

No one gets into porn as a first career choice. Lured by what appears to be easy money and fame, looking for something missing in their life, they fall into the web.  Fall is not the right word, shoved, pushed, forced would be better choices.

Once in, there really isn't any escape. The Internet ensures that. Forever.

We all like to think we have free will, and that people who get into porn or prostitution are less than us. “Those people” have made a choice to do what they do. Have they? Dig a little past the makeup and you will find a tragic soul, with a tragic childhood. Whatever path we find ourselves on, can be traced back to our early childhood. If we were raised in a loving family, with both a mom and dad, or at least good father and mother figures, our lives may have not been easy, none are, but they didn’t lead us to the "glamor" of the porn industry.

People who are in porn, are by and large there because they are searching for the love they did not find as children. Whether it is the missing love from a father who never was there, or an alcoholic mother, or sexual abuse from a family member or family friend, the path to porn stardom started long before the first money shot.

It’s Easter. Watching the Dead Porn Stars video made me think, if Jesus came out of his cave, who would he go spend time with? Who would he have spent time with this time around? Would he find Joel Olsteen on his stage, look out at all those clean Christian faces and tell him, “Job well done.” Jesus didn’t hang out with, or even like, the church leaders of his day. Would he embrace any of the current crop of mass-marketed-feel-good preachers of today? Or is it more likely that we would find him once again, ministering to a prostitutes in the inner city, or taking a whip to the porn pimps?

Can we see the face of God in such people? Can we see the Face of God in the face of a porn actor or actress? That takes real faith.
